What is WhatsApp Broadcast? WhatsApp Group vs WhatsApp Broadcast

Have you ever wondered what exactly the Broadcast feature in WhatsApp does? And how you can use this broadcast feature of WhatsApp to send messages to more than 5 contacts at once!

So what happens is that in WhatsApp you can’t send or forward a message to more than 5 contacts at once. But here, the WhatsApp Broadcast feature comes into play. In this article, we’re gonna tell you what this WhatsApp Broadcast feature is, how it works, how it is different from the WhatsApp group, and how you can use it to send messages to more than 5 contacts at once without creating any WhatsApp group. So let’s know and become a smart user of WhatsApp!

What is WhatsApp Broadcast?

So with the broadcast list feature, you can send a message to several of your contacts at once. Broadcast lists are saved lists of message recipients that you can repeatedly send broadcast messages to without having to select them each time.

In general, Broadcast means transmitting information to many receivers. For example, a radio station broadcasts a signal (like 98.3 FM – Radio Mirchi) to many listeners. And then we listeners receive that signal on our Radios (Now via the Internet) and can listen to the information/news or show which is being broadcasted on that frequency. And we listeners can’t know how many people are listening.

A broadcast list is like a BCC in email, where you can add multiple people and send out a mail at once. And the receiver will not know who else received it. Like, they can’t know who else is part of this email, but each of the recipients will get that email as you sent it to them personally. So WhatsApp Broadcast feature works exactly like this.

WhatsApp Group vs WhatsApp Broadcast

Now you will be thinking this feature is the same as the WhatsApp group. But it’s not. There are many differences between a WhatsApp group and a WhatsApp Broadcast. Like in a Broadcast, recipients will receive the message as a normal message. Like they will not be able to know that you have added them to a broadcast list. Where in a WhatsApp group, every message you send can be seen by group members as well.

Here are some major differences between a WhatsApp Group and a WhatsApp Broadcast:

Every message you send can be seen by group members as well.Recipients will receive the message as a normal message. They will not be aware that the message has been sent through a broadcast.
When you will add someone to a group, that person and every group member will get notified. No one will be able to know that you have added them to a broadcast list.
You can send messages to other users who are not even on your contact list. You can send messages using broadcast to only those who are on your contact list.
If someone will replied to your message or any other message, group members can see it.If someone will reply to your send message, you will receive the message as a normal message and broadcast list members can’t see it.
